Rizpah
1. There was a famine in Israel based on the Gibeonites’ anger towards King Saul. He broke the ancient covenant that Joshua made with the Gibeonites. (see Joshua 9:4-20). How does this demonstrate God’s views on covenants?

4. Rizpah watched over her children for 5 months. What effect did this have on King David? How about the royal lineage?

5. God allowed famine for three years because of Saul and King David’s disobedience. James 4:17 mentions about if you do wrong and know it, it is a sin. What are things we could do to prevent a breakthrough/curse or create a curse over our life and family?

6. Rizpah spoke truth to power. Her actions showed King David his wrongs. We are all under some form of authority in school, at our jobs, in our families…What are the Godly ways in which we, as women, could speak truth to authority?

7. God allowed the famine to get David’s attention. And by getting it, he took care of one wrong and prevented more calamity. Do you have a situation that happened to you that seemed bad, but God used to work out for good?

8. Rizpah – means hot stone or coal. Isaiah 6 mentions how coal was placed on Isaiah’s tongue to purify him. Why is this a fitting name for Rizpah?
